Our Co-Owner Mark Bauer has been awarded EY Entrepreneur of the Year in the Innovation & High Tech ‘Champion’ category at the 16th EY Entrepreneur of the Year Awards ceremony. The event took place in Vienna on October 15th 2021.
NBG Under Mark Bauer’s Leadership
Our company began life in 1996 on the core principles of innovation and entrepreneurship, and when Mark joined NBG as Co-Owner in 2014, he fully embraced these principles. One of his most outstanding achievements is the production of our state-of-the-art preform manufacturing facility.
The Gmünd facility is Europe’s only independent preform factory and a significant entrepreneurial milestone in Mark’s leadership. Taking optical fiber production into our own hands was game-changing. Moreover, the project was hugely beneficial to the area, creating many highly skilled jobs in the Waldviertel region.
One of our core principles is people. First and foremost, Mark values and respects people, empowering every employee with the best working conditions for them to succeed. Although technical innovation is central to everything we do, people are always the focus. People are the true center of the company. We promote entrepreneurship in the Waldviertel region and never forget that people are the driving force behind every technological breakthrough.
In addition to Mark’s pursuit of excellence and innovation, sustainability is central to his mission. There are plenty of examples of NBG embracing green issues and self-sufficiency; a notable one is our in-house electric vehicle fleet. Over the years, we’ve spearheaded various environmental campaigns and projects, becoming an ecological influencer in the fiber optics industry and Austria.
